About Trijntje Fop's Poetry
Kees STIP (born 25 August 1913) died in Winschoten, The Netherlands, on
27 June 2001.
He will always be remembered, especially for his witty poems,
of which I respectfully quote one sample here:

`Het uitzicht blijft maar steeds hetzelfde.'

Trijntje Fop is the nom de plume of the
Dutch light-verse poet Kees Stip (1913 - 2001) used
for publishing poetry that satisfies the following rules:
- about one or more animals having some human gifts like speech
- frequently there is a geographical reference (mostly to a Dutch location)
- form: often 6 lines, 4, 8 or more have occurred too
- regular rhyme (a a b b c c ...) and metre, line length usually 8 or 9
syllables
- high density of puns, spoonerisms and other word plays
- contents nonsensical or parodies of well-known Dutch poetry or
nursery rhymes, or playing with proverbs about animals
- early work often ended with a moral or lesson to children
(Kinders, ...)
but this characteristic has been abandoned completely.
Trijntje Fop's poems first appeared in de Volkskrant in the early fifties (1951),
and at present more than 650 exist, treating the complete realm of
animals and beyond.
Origin of the name
The name Trijntje Fop can be found in
Multatuli: Woutertje Pieterse. On p. 28 of Vol. I of the
edition ABC pocket # 92 - 93 (1958)
