Dr. Paul M. de Zeeuw

Vitae

Dr. Paul M. de Zeeuw studied mathematics and computer science at the University of Leiden, The Netherlands. Since 1979 he works at the National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science (CWI) in Amsterdam where he authored and co-authored many papers on multigrid methods for the solution of partial differential equations. In 1990 he was author for the Dutch Open University on the subject of numerical linear algebra. From 1997 till 2002 he was the secretary of the Dutch-Flemish Numerical Analysis Society (Werkgemeenschap Numerieke Wiskunde). His present occupation involves scientific programming and applications of multiresolution methods. Current research interests include numerical methods for the solution of partial differential equations and image processing.

Thesis on multigrid entitled "Acceleration of Iterative Methods by Coarse Grid Corrections".
It is downloadable in both a PDF-version and a Postscript-version . Most of the chapters have been published in journals. The topics include both linear and nonlinear multigrid (and Bi-CGSTAB). Emphasis is on robust coarse grid corrections by means of operator-dependent intergrid transfers. It explains what is under the hood of MGD9V (next).
