The 18th
Annual Conference on Distributed Computing (DISC 2004) will be
held
from Monday, October 4 (afternoon) through Thursday October 7, 2004. The technical
sessions will be held in the
Trippenhuis,
(home
of the Dutch Royal Academy of Sciences), a beautiful 17
th
century building at a canal in the
Amsterdam
city centre. Please check the

Weather: At the DISC dates Amsterdam is in the fall season. The weather is fairly
unpredictable: It can be rainy, but it can
also be Indian summer weather. Be prepared.

Safety: Generally speaking, Amsterdam is quite safe.
However, Amsterdam is a small
but cosmopolitan city, and has its share of pickpockets looking
for tourists. Take care at the train station on Schiphol Airport,
Amsterdam Central Station, the trains in between, and perhaps crowded trams in
the city.
