Last preliminary of the 79th Honinbo tournament

The 79th Honinbo was reorganised: only 5 Title games instead of 7, a 16-player knockout (15 games) instead of an 8-player League (28 games), and a Last Preliminary of 1 round instead of 3 rounds. The 25 players in this Last Preliminary were the 20 winners of Preliminary A, together with the 4 players Tsuruyama Atsushi, Otake Yu, Motoki Katsuya and Fujita Akihiko who were demoted from the 78th League, and Seki Kotaro.
