During the past 10 years, I've been active as associate editor of several major publications in my field and I've been able to assist in the organization of major multimedia conferences and workshops. Below are links to the publications and conferences (as far as stable links are current).

ACM/Springer Multimedia Systems Journal (MMSJ)
MMSJ Cover Image Multimedia Systems publishes original research articles and serves as a forum for stimulating and disseminating innovative research ideas, emerging technologies, state-of-the-art methods and tools in all aspects of multimedia computing, communications, storage, and applications among researchers, engineers, and practitioners. Theoretical, experimental and survey articles are all appropriate to the journal.
If you would like to submit an article to Multimedia Systems, see: MMSJ Author Guidelines for the journal.

Springer Multimedia Tools and Applications (MTAP)
MTAP Cover Image Multimedia Tools and Applications publishes original research articles on multimedia development and system support tools, and case studies of multimedia applications. Experimental and survey articles are appropriate for the journal. The journal is intended for academics, practitioners, scientists and engineers who are involved in multimedia systems research, design and applications. All papers are peer reviewed.
If you would like to submit an article for consideration to Multimedia Tools and Applications, please see the MTAP website.

ACM Transactions on Multimedia Computing, Comuting and Communications (TOMCCAP)
TOMCCAP Cover Image From 2003-2006, I was a founding editorial board member of the ACM Trans. on Multimedia Communications, Computing and Applications. TOMCCAP focuses on multimedia computing (I/O devices, OS, storage systems, streaming media middleware, continuous media representations, media coding, media processing, etc.), multimedia communications (real-time protocols, end-to-end streaming media, resource allocation, multicast protocols, etc.), and multimedia applications (databases, distributed collaboration, video conferencing, 3D virtual environments, etc.). (They also have one of the longest "goals" sentences is the industry!)
For information on submissions, see the TOMCCAP web site.
