Summary

For this 1st Year K-Space Review Meeting, the reviewers were happy with all the work done during so far. There is just a major issue with respect to the financial forms (see below).

Gerhard Budin (Reviewer from the University of Vienna) expressed satisfaction over the performance of K-Space participants in terms of the technical research development, demonstrations produced due to integrative activities among partners, and achieved results. All the deliverables submitted for M12 were accepted. He expressed satisfaction over project planning and the presentation delivered by work package leaders.

1. WP1 - Administration, Management (QMUL)

Problem with the financial forms. CWI got rejected. We will get the comments and we should fix the form as soon as possible to be paid (before 20th March 2007).

2. WP2 - Integration Activities (GU)

There is 16 000 euros in the common K-Space pot for (Senior) researchers to visit Industrial Companies. The companies could be everywhere in the world (not only in Europe). This money can be considered as a grant and will cover travel, accomodation, subsistance, etc. It has to be approved by the NSB.

The common K-Space pot for PhD exchanges (60 000 euros) between K-Space partners can also be used by (Senior) researchers and will then be considered as a short term fellowship. It has to be approved by the NSB.

3. WP6 - Framework for the integration of software tools (DCU)

How to participate in the TrecVid activity? K-Space Would like to enter the interactive search task, which requires a very end-user interface for the user to refine its query and submit back to multimedia retrieval system! Are we interested in that? After talking with Alan Smeaton, the interactivity should be reduced to a minimal relevance feedback interface (no real research wil be made here). Therefore, it is unlikely that CWI participate to TrecVid this year.

4. WP7 - Activities to Spread Excellence (DFKI)

Scientific Forum: a meeting for the future society should take place on M18. Date and Location will be decided during the Koblenz meeting.
