17th Japan-China Go Exchange, 1989

This year an eight-member Japanese team of young players whose average age was 20 toured China for two weeks in the middle of May. The host country also fielded young players, and by coincidence the average age of the 41 players in the Chinese teams was also 20. The result of the seven matches was a narrow victory for the touring side, which scored 29 wins to 27 losses. The stars for the touring side were Morita 4-dan and Miss Aoki Kikuyo 2-dan, both of whom scored 6-1.

The players here were Komatsu Hideki, Yuki Satoshi, Yamada Wakio, Shinoda Hideyuki, Morita Michihiro, Mimura Tomoyasu, Aoki Kikuyo, Miyazaki Shimako on the Japanese side, and Chang Hao, Che Zewu, Duan Rong, Fang Jie, Feng Yun, Fu Li, Hua Weirong, Hua Xueming, Huang Yan, Jin Weibin, Li Liang, Li Yuchuan, Liang Weitang, Liao Guiyong, Liu Bo, Liu Jing, Liu Kunpeng, Liu Yiyi, Ma Shi, Ni Linqiang, Pang Yan, Qiu Jihong, Shao Weigang, Wang Guanjun, Wang Hongjun, Wang Hui, Wang Jianhong, Wang Yimin, Wu Zhaoyi, Xie Feng, Xu Ying, Yan An, Yang Hui, Yang Shihai, Yu Bin, Yu Ping, Zhang Wendong, Zhang Xin, Zhang Xuan, Zheng Hong, Zhong Chenguang, Zhou Heyang on the Chinese side (42 players).
