Table of Contents
Summary of Action Points
- Lynda to ask for ideas for keynote speakers @ SAMT 2008, by
31/01/2008
- Raphael to propose a schedule to DCU and GU for the TRECVID Interactive
Search Task, by 31/01/2008
- CWI to check that the MPEG-7 specification repository (media wiki) can
accept any kind of attachment and to provide the general structure for
grouping the MPEG-7 related resources, see http://media.cwi.nl/mpeg7/wiki/index.php/Topics,
by 07/02/2008.
- INA to solve the timecode shift problem in the metadata of the news
video, by 15/02/2008?
ALL: finish the M24 deliverables as soon as possible. Final versions after internal review
should be emailed to Craig by 31/01/2008.
Current Status:
- 16 PhD exchanges (need 18), 9 Researcher exchanges (need 8) and 42
visiting scientists
- PhD Jamboree on 14th September 2007 in Berlin (TUB): 1329 euros spent,
14 partners involved, 23 papers/poster presented + social event, around
35 participants, very positive feedback
- 3 industrial placements (need 3 for the next year): Alia's visit in
Google will be counted in this category. Craig can provide us a template
for IPR issues if we need. K-Space can cover expenses such as travel
expenses: we need to apply and send a request to the NSB
- European Master Program: the proposal get rejected (financial
implications were not clear, the thematic was too K-Space centric, CVs of
professors didn't match precisely the courses that would have been
given)
- K-Space will not propose a joint PhD program
WP3.1 - Temporal Content Structuring
- Organizing upload of software for MM analysis, and finishing the
documentation about it.
- TrecVID summarization task, joint work of 3.1 and 4.4
- Multimedia Flow structuring: Build a real structural model that brings
together any types of data and links the semantic metadata to basic
segmentation
WP3.4 - Content description
Official MPEG-7 documents:
- Only two partners have sent requests
- Gets complicated, can be collective and can be shared among partners,
but the license has to be paid every year, and depends on the number of
documents, partners and persons accessing the documents
- The price for 10 docs, 10 sites, and 10 persons == about 2000 CHF per
year + initial costs
- Do we need some of these documents?
WP4.1 - Multimedia ontology
The main emphasis is to show some integration during the review (that was
a comment last year).
COMM is more or less finished!
- Java doc finished
- Build a new simple COMM API based on ????
- Retrieval activities on the COMM development on the KAT
- Migrated the COMM to Sesame 2.0 official release (improved performance
and stability)
The task 5.1 is considered as finished.
WP 5.3 - Semantic Multimedia
- TRECVid Interactive Search Task: AP for CWI to propose a schedule with
DCU and GU
- Searching and browsing news: AP for INA to solve the timecode shift
problem in the metadata
- "Stable module for semantic-based techniques for multimodal access to
multimedia" is a milestone due by M30. The 2nd review demonstrator will
be delivered (need 1 page description)
WP 5.5 - KAT Multimedia Annotation Tool
- KAT is a framework: plugin architecture, all major GUI components +
analysis plugins
- Migrated to Sesame2.0-final
- KAT Review Demo: will show image, video and audio analysis and
annotation separately
- Licencing issue for KAT: should we release it after the project as a
complete open source project, BSD type licence? Should be decided in a
TMC meeting
TRECVID 2008:
- BBC Rushes Summarization: lead by EURECOM, WP6 compiles the final
videos to be sent to NIST
- Proposal to NSB that K-Space host the workshop/camp for assessing the
BBC rushes results
- Feature extraction: as previous year ...
- Interactive Search Task: focus on interface design, collaboration with
WP5.3
- SMART society: updates will be send by email in the next 2 weeks,
followed by a phone conference for deciding on the roles to take in the
society
- SAMT 2008: Lynda to ask for ideas for keynote speakers, by
31/01/2008
- DCU: TRECVid Interactive Search Task (VideoOlympics 2008)
- DCU: Interactive Segmentation Tool. It helps to compare various
segmentation algorithms
- UEP: SMIL presentation of football video, synchronized with minutes
reports, events detection and categorization, players, etc.
- ITI: FIRE demonstration, a Fuzzy DL reasoner, used also with the
football worldcup video data in order to help synchronize events with the
timeline
- KU: KAT demo, showing image, video (and audio) annotation
separately
- QMUL: Content Management and Retrieval System
- QMUL: Museum Art Browsing Interface
- CWI: Searching and Browsing semantically enriched news
- JRS: VAMP - a semantic validation service of MPEG-7 descriptions
- JRS: Object/Shot re-detection visualisation using the Semantic Video Annotation Tool
- GU: Rushes Explorer, Not sure how it is more than "mSpace" on video
- ENST: Mashup of audio and video files based on motion and rythm detection,
Extracting voice from background music (male singer then soprano sax)
Ideas from Lynda: give the reviewers a list of useful websites, that have intellectual added
value: COMM, VAMP, MPEG-7 Wiki, etc.
